Youth Opportunities Program (YOP)

The Ultimate Win-Win:
Help Children and Earn Tax Credits

*** Temporarily Not Available: This program has become so popular with donors that the tax credits we were allotted have been claimed, as of October, 2016. The State will provide new funding in mid-2017 and PCHAS hopes to be included in that allotment. For more information, please contact Debra Paulus (see below). ***

Along with the State of Missouri, Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services of Missouri recognizes the importance of caring for children and families in need. Through the unique Youth Opportunities Program (YOP), administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, individual and corporate donors with Missouri tax liability may receive tax credits for donations to organizations like ours that provide positive youth development programs.

PCHAS serves more than 2,200 children and families each year. Our services and programs are typically focused on children who have suffered from neglect, abuse or abandonment.  Therapeutic Mentoring, Family Solutions for Kids (in-home counseling), Residential Treatment, Transitional Living services and Foster Care Case Management are our core areas of service.

Donors who contribute gifts of $500 or more earn tax deductions and Missouri state tax credits. PCHAS offers 50% tax credits to donors who make gifts of $500 or more. The following chart illustrates the tax benefits of your contribution to PCHAS.

Potential Tax Savings (based on taxpayers in the 28% to 35% tax bracket)

Contributions can be in the form of check, credit card or through the transfer of appreciated stock. The process is very simple.  After we receive your donation, we mail a simple YOP application to you. When your completed application (along with necessary documentation of your gift) is received, we submit your application to the state.  In return, the state will send you a tax credit certificate equal up to 50% of your donation.  You can use these tax credits with your next state income tax return and you may “roll over” any unused credits for up to five years. If you would like to take advantage of these incredible tax savings, don’t wait. PCHAS’ tax credits are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
