Family Solutions For Kids Program

Image of mother with daughters representing PCHAS of Missouri Family Solutions for Kids Program pageIt breaks children’s hearts to be removed from their homes and families, even when home is a difficult or hurtful place to be. Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services offers a unique program to help families find better, healthier ways to interact and work through problems. Family Solutions for Kids works with families in their homes to build upon their strengths and teach them new skills that help them stay together and thrive.

In-home family therapy

Our experts provide intensive, in-home help for 12 weeks. Each family receives individualized assistance tailored to that family. No cookie-cutter solutions. Sometimes that means we help a family learn to work through communication or behavioral problems to prevent a break-up of the family. Sometimes we help children and their families re-adjust after a child has been in residential care. The important thing is to respond to each family’s unique situation with the specialized skills our case workers provide.

Free in St. Louis County and Jefferson County

The program is free and available to any family with children ages four to 19 in St. Louis County or Jefferson County. Our services include:

  • Individual therapy
  • In-home family therapy
  • Help accessing community services
  • Emotional support
  • Communication skills training
  • Mentoring services
  • Child development training
  • Parent education and coaching

Family Solutions for Kids works in collaboration with Every Child’s Hope (ECH) in St. Louis County, where it is funded through the St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund. In Jefferson County it is funded through the Jefferson Foundation.

“I feel that coming into the home provided Judy with an accurate assessment of how things are day to day. I am so thankful I had this opportunity-especially with Judy — she was an incredible source of help, support and knowledge. I felt 100% comfortable with her and therefore felt she could really help me and my son in areas we needed. For the first time, I feel confident things will improve with my home situation with my son (they have improved a lot already). About a month after meeting with Judy, I felt there was hope — I finally had hope all would be okay. I am so very thankful to Judy for this.”
